Online Dating Tips for the Recession

In the midst of a deep recession, it can be difficult as a single person to do the whole first date circuit. Let’s face it; everyone wants to make a good first impression, which means spending a lot. It seems online dating is becoming the best option for many. So, what online dating tips are experts sharing?

1. It doesn’t always pay to be cheap. We understand that first dates can be expensive, so be picky when doing your online dating. Filter out only the best prospects.

2. Get to know the people you chat up online really well before going out. Don’t go on first dates because you’re bored. Instead, make sure the potential dater shares similar interests in music, movies, beliefs, etc. This will help your chances of long-term success.

3. Eat big. Do the math. What is cheaper: two meals at $25.00 a piece or one big one for $30.00? Although it may look a little cheap to split a meal, make it a point to take the first time date to place that serves huge portions and assure them before you order, “We should totally split something the portions in here are huge!” This way you can pick together and when the meal does come out, they’ll see how huge it is and trust your judgments. The Cheesecake Factory is a perfect example of the above theory. Don’t box it…it’s a waist of money. Get desert instead.
