FatIsBeautiful.com Helps Overweight People Find Love Online

Fat is Beautiful Inc. announces the launch of www.FatIsBeautiful.com, a supportive, accepting community where big people can share their pictures and voice their thoughts openly without worrying about prejudice or misunderstanding. With the increasing popularity of social networking and online photo and video sharing sites such as MySpace, hi5, and YouTube, people are encouraged to reveal their true selves and build online relationships based on common interests.

Unfortunately, for obese people who may already feel isolated, many online communities do not protect them from the same harsh judgment and rejection they face in real life. Fatisbeautiful.com allows its members to create and manage their own content, giving them a sense of control and freedom.

“I wanted to create a space where we can post our videos with dignity. Overweight people deserve to feel good about themselves, and should be able to enjoy sharing their pictures and thoughts with other people who respect them and think they are beautiful.” Says founder Sidney Bitton.

Users can join fatisbeautiful.com with a Silver membership for free as an introductory special. Members can post entries, photos and videos, and control which friends can access their posted content. A chat room provides a space for live discussions, and personal ads with targeted searches help soul mates find each other. TheChicagoMatchMakers.com Hosts New Workshop

On Saturday, May 23, TheChicagoMatchmakers.com will host a workshop for single women titled, “Finding the Perfect Mate: How to know who you want, where to find him, and if you even want him.” This fun and interactive workshop is designed to improve the attitude and outlook towards dating of the attendees.

TheChicagoMatchmakers.com founder, Gayle Hudson explains that most of the single women she meets are very successful career women who just don’t know how to put the right focus on their love life. “Often someone will say to me, ‘I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if I just need to be patient.’ I created this workshop to give them a new starting point.” explains Ms. Hudson. According to Ms. Hudson, the advice she gives to her clients would be valuable to all singles.

TheChicagoMatchmakers.com workshop will provide an opportunity for self-reflection on one’s current single status, as well as analyze opportunities for finding love that are currently being missed. Ms. Hudson seeks to avoid the cliches of “why am I still single?” and instead focus on “who is perfect for me?” Participants will have a thorough understanding as to what the person who they are looking for really looks like, and provide an avenue to discover where they might find this person. Also discussed will be negative stereotypes and hang ups which are preventing women from finding the right man for them.

Held in the private Upper Deck room at the Cubby Bear and with a cash bar, one thinks more ‘ladies night’ than a typical seminar and that’s exactly the point. “It’s a lot easier to be in a social setting and think about your love life than to sit in a classroom. I designed it to be informative, but fun and relaxing too,” says Gayle Hudson. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $25 which includes soft drinks. The workshop starts at 12 noon and is approximately 3 hours. The workshop will be repeated on June 27.

U.S. recession helping online dating sites

While the U.S. economy continues to struggle amongst the incessant daily news reports of doom and gloom, it seems that online dating sites are thriving with increasing new members.  According to the CEO of eHarmony, Greg Waldorf, the phenomenon is attributed to the need of a much sought after companionship to get through the hard times.  A survey conducted by eHarmony showed that 25% of women found themselves more likely to seek long-term relationships under the current economic circumstance, rather than having casual, romantic associations.

Another theory is that the overall economic hard press has led men to seek partners in a more cost effective manner by getting to know their potential partner better in an online chatting environment rather than taking risks on costly and unproductive first dates.  According to OkCupid’s CEO, Sam Yagan, most people are just looking for “cheap entertainment” and have turned to alternative ways of having romantic dates at home, such as watching a rental DVD rather than going to the movies or staying-in to an at-home meal rather going to a restaurant.
